Overview
We are thrilled to share the successful completion of our project in partnership with CARE International in Somalia, implemented across the Maroodi-Jeex, Togdheer and Sanaag regions of Somaliland.
Working alongside 172 inspiring women — including cooks, caregivers and community leaders across 12 schools — the project focused on strengthening their voices in local decision-making. Through intensive workshops and peer-to-peer dialogue circles, participants gained the tools and confidence to step into active leadership.

From silence to active community leadership
Safer Learning Environments
Many women spoke publicly for the first time to demand safer, more secure learning environments for their students.
Infrastructure & Hygiene
Participants mobilised community action for tangible school repairs and improved sanitation and hygiene facilities.
Fair Governance
Women secured fairer representation on school governance and decision-making committees across the 12 partner schools.
Actionable Results
In schools such as Darasalam and Beer, women applied new negotiation skills to secure direct repairs and student welfare improvements.
